About Air Weapons Complex
The Air Weapons Complex (AWC) is a branch and part of the Pakistan Air Force which has been active since the 18th of February 1992. There are various science and research laboratories within the complex for the development of airborne systems with a particular focus on rocket science and the study of explosives. It is also known as a military unit of PAF that specializes in conducting research, airborne weapon development, and implementation of air defense systems. It also provides the capability to conduct war-fighting operations in order to support the Pakistan Air Force in cases of conflict. Over the course of its existence, the AWC researched, planned, and built the Air-Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM) and performed test launches in collaboration with companies such as NESCOM, DESTO, and the Ministry of Defence as well. Air Vice-Marshal Faheem Kayani is the Director-General of AWC.
