About Ministry of Maritime Affairs
The Ministry of Maritime Affairs was founded in the June of the year 2020 as the Ministry of Ports and Shipping. The Maritime Secretary of Pakistan is responsible for overseeing the activities of this federal ministry. It comes under the jurisdiction of the Government of Pakistan. Most of the departments that are attached to it are in Karachi, the largest port city in the country. It has 10 wings and attached departments, i.e. KPT, PMA, MFD, Government Shipping Office, Korangi Fish Harbour, Port Qasim, Gwadar Port Authority, Pakistan National Shipping Corporation, Mercantile Marine Department, and Ports and Shipping Wing, Karachi. Its role consists of overseeing a wide range of operational, administrative, and regulatory issues related to policies, guidelines, as well as rules and regulations. It also oversees the licensing process for ports and maritime services operations including their facilities. Mr. Mian Asad Hayauddin si the Maritime Secretary, whereas, Mr. Ali Haider Zaidi is the Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs. Its headquarter is situated in Islamabad Capital Territory.
