About Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization
PEDO was founded as a Small Hydel Development Organization in the year 1986 to start and expand Hydel potential up to 5MW by constructing, operating, and maintaining small Hydel Stations. In the year 1993, this organization was named Sarhad Hydel Development Organization. Later in the year 2014, this organization was renamed “Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization” under the 2014 PEDO Act. This organization is functioning with the vision of energizing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province with affordable and efficient power by developing and exploring the energy sectors of the province. The main focus and objective of PEDO is to encourage private investments by ensuring the fast-track development of hydropower projects through full cost recovery to provide low-cost power generation. This organization has identified a potential of 3900 MW and is currently operating under the management of CEO Mr. Qazi Muhammad Naeem.
